The Big Reveal - October Newsletter
Mon 30 Oct 2017As The Record Store reached completion at The Old Vinyl Factory last month, we celebrated with U+I as they hosted a fantastic carnival! The music was swinging and the drinks flowing, but the highlight of the day was the reveal of the guest of honour himself.
In commemoration of The Old Vinyl Factory's incredible contribution to music, a statue of Nipper the dog; the icon of HMV, was unveiled by the Mayor of Hillingdon.
Taken from Francis Barraud's painting "His Master's Voice", the iconic image has been a musical symbol ever since it was acquired by The Gramophone Company in 1899.
The 5.5 metre statue is currently located at the centre of the growing community; a constant reminder of the site's rich musical heritage. The statue will remain here until moved to its permanent home next to the Cabinet Building next year.
