Peace and goodwill isn’t just for Christmas…
Fri 15 Dec 2017It’s that time of year again. No, not the release of the X-Factor winner’s single, but the festive season is well and truly here and it’s a welcome moment to pause and reflect.
As we write and receive our Christmas cards and brave the busy high street in search of that must-have candle and latest video game for our family and friends, it does get us thinking about giving and sharing at a more thematic level.
We recently hosted a roundtable event with some of our industry peers titled ‘Property Development as if people mattered’. Our croissant-fuelled breakfast focused on community engagement. We discussed many different insights and observations on this enormously important topic. It was an open, vibrant and fascinating debate.
Cutting through many different and sometimes opposing views was the general idea that community engagement has sadly become a tick-box exercise to many developers.
This fundamental process is key to ensure that any development is in harmony with its heritage, surroundings and able to look forward to a bright future as part of the community.
Developers need to care, share, understand, empathise and listen to the community. What gets delivered should always feel like a gift.
Season’s greetings and a happy, healthy, prosperous 2018 to you all.
