HUB has recently acquired a large site in the heart of Digbeth, Birmingham. Digbeth is approximately 15 minutes walk from the city centre and an area of the city that is currently undergoing significant change, partly due to the nearby arrival of the HS2 train station at Curzon Street. Digbeth has already become renowned for its diverse mixture of both Arts and industrial uses, the HUB proposal will look to integrate into this emerging cultural zone.
The site itself has approximately 200 metres of canal frontage which will help to form a new vibrant area of public realm that both residents and visitors will be able to enjoy. The development will also include a diverse mix of amenities to offer the local community whilst complimenting the changing context. HUB will bring forward plans for a large-scale mixed-use scheme, comprising creative workspace, residential, leisure and retail uses, creating an exciting new live/work destination for Birmingham.
On 18 October HUB and their design team shared the emerging designs with members of the local community. We will also be out in the surrounding area showing the designs and gathering more feedback. We would love to know what you think!
